Bettina Bildhauer picked me up at the office and took me to a road trip to the beautiful countryside.

On our way to her home we stopped by at a pagan place, and Bettina took a picture of me right there.
Unterwegs zu ihr haben wir an einem heidnischen Ort angehalten, und Bettina hat dort ein Foto von mir gemacht.
There is a church next to the pagan place. The Nazis, I say to Bettina, tried to tell the Germans that all Christian churches had been erected on Germanic pagan sites. (Difficult topic. Complex discourse.)

At Bettina’s home we have tea and a look at her library. Here are two books I’ll definitely have to read soon. One of them by my heroine Caroline Walker Bynum who wrote the awesome book “Jesus as Mother” that had a big impact on my novel “Jungfrau”. (Great title anyway, the proof is in the iconography, and, true, there’s not the slightest genetic trace of maleness in Jesus.)
Bei Bettina trinken wir Tee und schauen uns ihre Bibliothek an. Hier sind zwei Bücher, die ich bestimmt bald lesen muss. Eines von meiner Heldin Carolin Walker Bynum, die das tolle Buch “Jesus as Mother” schrieb, das eine große Auswirkung auf meinen Roman “Jungfrau” hatte. (Großartiger Titel, ikonographisch belegt, und tatsächlich gibt’s keine einzige genetische Spur von Männlichkeit in Jesus.)
Then Bettina and I swapped books (she gave me her book “Medieval Blood”, I gave her my novel “Selbst”) and drove back to St. Andrews.
Dann haben Bettina und ich Bücher getauscht (sie gab mir ihr Buch “Medieval Blood”, ich gab ihr meinen Roman “Selbst”) und sind wieder nach St Andrews gefahren.
